Training course in crisis assistance, East Asia

Dr Marion Gibson will be one of the trainers on the course

Dr Marion Gibson

ICMA members from the East Asia region have been invited to a two-day training course to be held in Tagbilaran, Philippines, in April 2010.

The course is presented by the Regional Welfare Committee of East Asia and is intended for chaplains, ship visitors and other port-based welfare workers. Course tutor Dr Marion Gibson will provide a structured programme for responding to the needs of people in the aftermath of crisis.

This course is specially adapted for the maritime sector. Some sponsorship is available thanks to generous support from the ITF Seafarers’ Trust and the TK Foundation.

Members of ICMA may be eligible for sponsorship to cover the cost of travel to the Philippines and of the course itself. Further information and a sponsorship application form can be dowloaded here. Please read the information carefully. Applications for sponsorship must be sent to the course organisers, the ICSW regional co-ordinator in Indonesia. Members of ICMA are respectfully reminded to follow the procedures of their parent organisations before making their application.

Please note that sponsorship requests must be sent to the course organisers by 28 February 2010.
